If you see events that you would like to help cover please go to the "Contact Us" link and click on "Send Us A Message" then fill out the message field. Thanks.
LexMedia runs on the strength of its volunteers. We are committed to training the residents of Lexington, and our members, in television production skills, and then supporting them as they create local video content. Programs are made by and for the Lexington community by people just like you.
At any given time there are many productions in the the pipeline, from studio and field shoots to government meeting coverage and program editing. The staff of LexMedia is dedicated to helping volunteers in all stages of production from the germ of an idea to the finished product. We also build a community of volunteers at LexMedia. Members work together on projects of mutual interest or assist as crew for each other's programs.....learning new skills, forming connections and having fun. LexMedia also offers internships for high school and college students helping them learn or refine valuable production skills, and gain experience working in a professional media center. There is plenty of work at LexMedia and lots of opportunities for our members and the interns. See a partial description of these opportunities in the articles below, then give us a call. |

For Interns & Volunteers Volunteering is great, but what exactly does it mean at LexMedia? To help clarify we have developed a list of production positions and tasks Interns and Volunteers might do. Obviously this list changes over time, and expands as people bring new ideas to LexMedia. We have incredible opportunities available right now. Some of the things you'll learn include:
Camera Operator/Producer: All of the locally produced programs that are recorded outside of the LexMedia studio need a camera operator/producer. Events that occur in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room or Cary Hall are produced using the permanently installed video equipment. This equipment includes our robotic muliti-camera control systems. Instructional Assistant: After suitable instruction, the intern/volunteer will help answer students questions and assist the teacher in demonstrating equipment and it's proper usage during classes. The intern/volunteer will also offer supplemental guidance and instruction regarding production and equipment use at other times. On-Demand Producer: Create Web accessible versions of LexMedia programming using a systematic approach and provided hardware and software tools. Video Server loading: All of our broadcast programs play from our digital video server. When a program comes to us we must upload the contents to the video server from a specially equipped PC and then add information to the database. About Our Volunteers: We rely on the talented volunteers, who come to us from a variety of backgrounds and interests, to do both the inspirational work of creating a show as well as the production work needed to complete a project. We welcome your input and value the time you put in here. |
