Production Coordinator

We’re looking for a creative, motivated, and dependable Production Coordinator to join our team. The Production Coordinator will play a hands-on role in producing content for LexMedia, including community programming, Lexington High School sports, studio productions, field productions, and special events.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in video production who enjoys shooting and editing and is interested in continuing to develop their skills. Experience with multi-camera production is a plus, but we are also looking for someone who is willing and excited to learn new equipment, technology, and production workflows on the job. Staff are expected to work across departments when appropriate, communicate proactively, meet agreed-upon responsibilities and deadlines, seek clarification when expectations are unclear, and raise capacity concerns or barriers in a timely manner.

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Full time, in person

Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000 + Benefits

Primary Responsibilities

• Independently shoot and edit original LexMedia programming, interviews, community stories, events, and promotional content
• Participate in studio, field, live, and multi-camera productions, including Lexington High School sports broadcasts and Patriots’ Day
• Support the production of LexLocal and other community-focused programming
• Assist with production planning, equipment preparation, setup, and breakdown
• Create and edit short-form and promotional video content for LexMedia’s website and social media channels
• Learn and operate LexMedia cameras, audio equipment, lighting, switchers, streaming systems, and other production technology
• Assist producers, members, students, interns, and volunteers with production needs
• Help maintain organized and production-ready equipment, studios, and production spaces

Other

• Assist with production training for LexMedia members, interns, students, and volunteers to help nurture skills and creativity
• Help identify opportunities for new programming and creative content
• Assist with day-to-day production operations at the Media Center
• Perform other production-related duties as needed to support LexMedia’s evolving needs

Qualifications

• All applications should be submitted with a current resume and brief cover letter as well as a portfolio with samples of short edited projects. Applications submitted without a resume and cover letter will not be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of 1–5 years of education, professional experience, training, and community-based work in media, community learning, nonprofit programming, community arts, media education, digital literacy, or a related field.
• Proficiency in video production, including camera operation and non-linear editing
• Skilled in filming and editing using Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve to quickly turn around highly produced videos to be shared on LexMedia’s channels, and our website and social media channels
• Some experience with or interest in learning live and multi-camera production
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a production team
• Dependable, creative, and willing to learn new production equipment and workflows
• Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license (some travel to/from locations required)
• This role occasionally requires working on nights and weekends, or other flexible hours as needed
