LexMedia is pleased to announce that Terry Samaras has been appointed as its new Executive Director. Terry succeeds Florence DelSanto, who departed at the end of February after seventeen years as LexMedia’s Executive Director.
A familiar face to many in the Lexington community, Terry began his career at LexMedia as an intern fresh out of college and worked his way up to Production Manager – a role he’s held for the past fifteen years. During his tenure, he has directed numerous live broadcasts, most notably handling nearly all of the past ten years of Patriots’ Day coverage. He has directed and produced cornerstone events, helped hundreds of volunteers and students find their voice, and has built town-wide relationships that allow for seamless coverage of community events.
This transition marks a new chapter for LexMedia, now led by a director who possesses a vast technical and creative understanding of daily operations. As Executive Director, Terry plans to focus on bringing new voices to the platform and reaching new audiences. He is dedicated to ensuring LexMedia remains a relevant and accessible resource for Lexington residents of all ages and backgrounds.
“I have never been more excited about what lies ahead,” says Terry Samaras. “My focus will be simple: listen to the Lexington community; strengthen our fundraising so we can grow sustainably; and deliver content and services that our viewers and our staff are truly proud of. The Board’s confidence means everything to me, and I intend to earn it every day.”
Terry’s leadership ensures that LexMedia will remain a reliable resource for the Lexington community despite the continually changing landscape of community media. To support this new leadership direction, the Board has also appointed Devin Shaw as Assistant Executive Director. Devin’s transition to this role leverages his experience as the station’s Government Producer and his ongoing work coordinating with Lexington’s civic leadership.
LexMedia’s Board Chair, Jim Shaw, explains, “We decided to add some depth to our management staff because we have found it necessary to work more closely with the local governmental structure and seek new and innovative ways to increase our community outreach and to augment our fundraising. We feel the appointments of Terry as Executive Director and Devin as Assistant Executive Director will help us to achieve many short-term and long-term objectives.”
Shaw continued, “LexMedia recognizes the need to work closely with our elected and appointed officials to ensure that the government remains transparent and accessible to the residents of Lexington.”
