LexMedia is proud to announce that Board Member Regie Gibson has been named inaugural Poet Laureate for the state of Massachusetts. The announcement was made by Governor Maura Healey at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem on Friday May 30th. Regie is an accomplished poet; he currently serves as Co-Artistic Director of Pedagogy at the Arts for Social Cohesion as well as teaches at Berklee College of Music as an Assistant Professor and an Instructor at Clark University in Worcester. Regie lives in Lexington and has been a LexMedia Board Member for numerous years.

Regie was selected as Poet Laureate from a pool of over one hundred applicants. The role involves encouraging the appreciation of poetry and creative expression across Massachusetts, organizing and attending public readings and other events, composing poetry for ceremonial occasions, and advising the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
